Unlock advanced data analysis with intuitive AND/OR filter logic, now enhanced in Safety Intelligence, to streamline your reporting.
The new logic can be discovered by editing a tile or in any Explore window. For more information on Explores, check out the article here.
Creating Advanced Filters
Safety Intelligence now allows you to apply sophisticated AND/OR logic to filters in an Explore, directly above your dataset. This means you can fine-tune your safety reports with combined filter conditions without delving into complex manual expressions.
Filters can be set in several ways:
- Use the (1) 'Filter by field' icon found in the Explore field picker
- Click the (2) 'Filter' button in the upper Filters section of the Explore interface
- Choose the (3) cogwheel icon in the field's column within the data table
- To discard a filter, click the (4) 'X' button on the right side of the filter to remove it
Filter Section Enhancements
Upon adding multiple filters, you'll see new controls that allow you to switch between AND and OR logic. This flexibility helps you build filter groups that refine your data more precisely.
Key options include:
- AND/OR toggle: Switch between combining filters with AND or OR logic. This is especially useful when you have multiple conditions to consider, but you may not want them to interfere with each other.
- Add Filter: Introduce additional filters within the same logical group to refine your analysis.
- New Group: Craft a new filter group to separate distinct filtering logic for different data scenarios.
- Custom Expression: For more complex queries, manually create a custom expression using Lexp.
Filter Groups
Within Safety Intelligence, filters can be organized into groups using AND/OR logic to refine data analysis. For instance, you can set up Group A and Group B with distinct filter criteria and configure the Explore to display results that meet the conditions of either Group A OR Group B. This feature enables the efficient analysis of complex, multi-condition scenarios within your safety data environment.*
For example, the following Explore filters contain two groups separated with OR logic:
- Form Date is in the last 30 days AND Question Name is Injury Type AND Answer is Slip and fall OR
- Action Item Priority Ranking Description is Severe AND Action Items Creation Date is in the last 90 days
The resulting Explore will show data for sites where there were Slip and fall injuries reported in the last 30 days OR sites with Action Items assigned Severe priority status and that were created in the last 90 days.
*Notice: There is no limit to the number of filter groups that can be created, however, excessive filter groups will impact dashboard and browser performance.*
Additional Considerations
- Filters will default to AND logic, but if your first group contains a mandatory filter, AND will be your standard setting.
- OR logic isn't available when filtering numerical measures due to their quantitative nature.
By leveraging these enhanced filters, you can efficiently dissect your safety data, ensuring your organization's insights are precise and actionable.
